Sonata Blog Tour

I have been such a huge fan of Amy Sinibaldi since I started quilting, so I was beyond thrilled when she asked me to be part of her showcase for her latest line, Sonata. There isn’t a line of Amy’s that I don’t absolutely adore, and this is no exception. Plus, it makes my inner band geek super happy. I played the flute for several years growing up in the concert, marching, and pep bands. I reeeeeally got into the band thing there for awhile, ha. The fabrics I chose for my project are so soft and dreamy! From left to right: Ink Light, Josephine Classic, Josephine Poetic, Edelweiss Joy, Edelweiss Ode, Floral No. 9 Bold, and Ink Thunder. Not pictured below but used at the top of my quilt for the lightest color gradient was Art Gallery Fabrics Pure Elements Solid in Sweet Macadamia.

I decided to make a simple triangle throw quilt (I can never resist a good triangle quilt!) that kind of reminds me of cozy argyle socks. Nerd alert, I know. I really do love how the light-to-dark gradient turned out. The biggest challenge I encountered while making this was deciding on a fabric for the back. A tiny voice in my head kept saying “Rach, that red-orange floral from the Sonata line could be pretty awesome!” Then a much louder, rational voice in my head said “Ummmmm….whoa. That’s bold. Calm down, woman!” After a couple glasses of wine, I decided to listen to the tiny voice in my head (she’s fun—I like her) and ordered this backing from Cottoneer. Here are some photos of my final project for this Sonata Showcase:

That pop of red from the back is just SO fun! Also, I’m really going to miss this bedroom when we move to Omaha.

Totally reminds me of argyle socks. In a cool way, of course. Argyle chic.

I haven’t quite mastered the quilt chair drape yet. I’m trying. I’m probably trying too hard.

Seriously—the fabrics in this line are just so DREAMY! I am in love. This quilt isn’t going anywhere.
